My sweet Grandma comes to visit one time a year, leaving cold, snowy Minnesota behind. She trades the wintry tundra for the more temperate (and in my opinion, live-able) climate of the Carolinas. I absolutely adore my grandma, and so do my children who call her, Gigi, which is adorable. The trip South is a big deal for Gigi, and it only comes once a year, so we soak up Every. Single. Second. we have with her!
We take Gigi to the all the fun local stuff – from mountain views to a new tea room. The Biltmore House is always a favorite. This year we convinced Gigi to let us push her around in a wheelchair, so she wouldn’t miss a thing on her tour of the house. I’m thinking Brady would enjoy that mode of travel, too… (By the way, Gigi’s legs work fine and she would want you to know that.)
The humid, warm air in the Conservatory, plus fresh, bright blooms were a glad sight for this Minnesotan Grandma’s eyes!
I love how Gigi focuses her time and heart on each one of us as individuals, not just because we are “part of the family.” We are so very fortunate not only to have a Grandma, but to have this beautiful, intelligent, creative woman in our lives.
Do you adore your Grandma, too? I’d love to know more. Please tell me a little of your Grandma’s story in the comments.
